About the Author

Paul Zorn was born in India and completed his primary and secondary schooling there. But, I found it invaluable for the understanding it provides of the entire mechanization of movement as it is developed within us or the lack there of and how to reclaim what we may have missed along the developmental pathway or deficiencies we may have acquired due to injuries along the way as well. The reading is not light, but I found it totally fascinating and applicable and in applying the exercises in the way she prescribes actually experienced changes in the way I think and move in the world, and came to a much deeper understanding of the relationship of conciousness and how it is intrically woven and relates to our physical form and the movements our bodies or capable of making and intrically designed to produce. There is no separation. The way we were allowed to move or not as children sets patterns that we incorporate in the way we act and react to our inner and outer enviornment. Powerful book. I will never look at the body or movement in the same way again and that is a good thing.

This is an outstanding work, which, when published, was prescient of the connectivity we glibly call "mind-body". It's more relevant than ever today. Ms Hackney studied extensively with people in the forefront of somatic work bridging the aesthetic (dance), scientific, and therapeutic worlds, all of which drive the now burgeoning consciousness movement. Her language is precise, furthering literacy in the fields of anatomy and kinesiology, and includes detailed and remarkably clear descriptions of movement exercises that illuminate the concepts, structures, and functions of the body. There is also a warm and personable writing 'voice' here, which speaks to the depth of her knowledge, which is above all experiential. This is not a dry, plodding textbook; it's alive with experience and knowledge. Ms Hackney makes the subtle connections of the sentient body accessible to growing generations of movers, dancers, and anyone who seeks to live fully and gracefully. I study integration in Tai Chi and found this book full of good information to supplement my knowledge, I also do body work and this will be helpfull in that also. I would like to see the author do a workbook without the ancedotes and have larger pages and with pictures as an aid. I will possibly do a later review as I am still mastering the material, Northern Wu Tai Chi could add some integration ideas which I may detail later as I am not prepared at the moment. I bought this book taking a chance and was happily rewarded. I am adding some information to this review, for those interested in body integration from an eastern point of view, the core of Tai Chi I recommend "Warriors of Stillness" by Jan Depiersloot.

This is a very well written, incredibly intelligent book on Bartenieff fundamentals, I trained & was certified under Irmgard Bartenieff many years ago, and to me this is the most in depth and comprehensive book available on her Fundamentals. In addition, Ms Hackney has a gift for making things very understandable, which is the mark of a good teacher. Thank You, Rose Mitchell

This book contains absolutely great information. Glad to have found this book. It opened my mind wider than ever before to early childhood developmental patterns and our innate ability to reconnect to them. The editing of the entire book leaves too much to get lost in translation. Some strong nods towards relating it to what is going on anatomically, but purposely stops short on the scientific end.

Donald Macleod (MA, University of Glasgow; DD, Westminster Theological Seminary), now retired, served as professor and chair of systematic theology at the Free Church of Scotland College in Edinburgh and also as the school's principal. Donald Macleod offers a faithful presentation of orthodox Christology. It was hard for me to rate this at three stars because the subject matter is so important and central. Macleod is also very effective, scholarly, and faithful in biblical, orthodox Christology, but I had some pain points that made this book not very enjoyable for me.1. It is very scholarly. Macleod is obviously brilliant. He's a retired Systematic Theology professor and principal, where he taught for over three decades. But he often uses infrequently used terms, and doesn't define them. He clearly has an apologetic emphasis, particularly against liberalism. This is very helpful and necessary. But his style here is a bit inaccessible, even to seminarians.2. The material, though related, occasionally seems disjointed. Each chapter appears to stand-alone, almost as if these were orginally given as lectures. This makes it a little hard on occasion to link a few of the chapters with a preceding or following chapter.3. Peccability vs. Impeccability: Macleod assumes impeccability, but gives precious little space defending this view. I was truly looking forward to a robust defense, but was disappointed with only one page or so of implications for (rather than a reasonable explanation of) the impeccability view.All in all, this is a very good book on Christ steeped in Scripture and historic Christian orthodoxy. Macleod engages scholars fairly and carefully, not holding back from exposing their logical inconsistencies. He aptly upholds Chalcedonian Christology in all its fullness, responding to criticisms from liberal scholars. It may be a tough read, especially for this seminarian, but I would certainly read it again. I recommend it to all.

After more than a decade Macleod's The Person of Christ remains the best introduction to Christology. Macleod surveys Ancient and Modern reflections on these important doctrines, while offering insightful interaction and synthesis. This text remains useful in the seminary classroom and in the Church.

A wide ranging, sometimes meandering, yet stunningly comprehensive introduction to the Christian doctrine of the Incarnation. This volume requires some patience as MacLeod articulates the doctrine through polemics with critics and revisionists. While this style is very informative and educational, it does have the trap of getting bogged down in details and sometimes misses the forest for the trees (this is especially true of the chapter on pre-existence). While some of the language isn't as precise as I would like it to be, I found much of his discussion to be helpful and invigorating. After finishing this book, the dedicated reader will only want to dig deeper into this glorious subject; and that should be no small compliment to the author, because studying the Incarnation can be daunting and sometimes discouraging to study.

Macleod is one of the clearest, most thorough, and provocative (in the good sense of the word) theologians today. He interacts with theolgians, ancient and modern, and lays out the biblical case for what the Holy Scriptures teach about the person of Jesus Christ. Whether you disagree or agree, you will not regret a penny you spent in buying this book. For that matter, buy everything Macleod has written.

As a libertarian I have always appreciated Professor Dershowitz's opinions on the Constitution even when I disagree with him. He is even handed and sees his purpose as applying the correct Constitutional principle to every aspect of jurisprudence. If you seek truth about what the Constitution required then you must at least consider his arguments. It is revealing to discover how a lifetime liberal who was a supporter of Hillary Clinton has been treated by his own liberal community because he has not jumped on the bandwagon of those who seek to politically dispose of Trump because of rabid vitriol. No matter where you stand on Trump, you will learn important insights from this lifelong civil libertarian.

This is the third book that I have read on this subject and to now have read the legal aspect of all that is going on is very scary. It appears that in many cases our justice department is tearing the constitution apart and Alan gives us a great interpretation about what is happening. I am really sorry that there are people out there who have condemned Alan for trying to protect our constitution and our rights and freedoms. They unfortunately are so blinded by pure hatred that they don’t even see the future ramifications of how these things may eventually affect them or their families and friends.Thank you Alan for your open mindedness and explanation of these many abuses that have gone on. I will always remember you comment about the shoe.Thanks also for writing a book that a could have been tangled in a bunch of legalize but was very clear and concise to a none legal person.

I love the way Dershowitz games-out the various possible impeachment arguments. Constitutional Law is sometimes difficult to follow and the news media doesn't take the time to explain the nuances of legal arguments. After reading this book you will have a far better understanding of your political system, legal system and your rights. This book, or at least the first 30 pages, should be "Required Reading" for all citizens of the United States! In fact, I would suggest that all high school history, social studies and current events/media teachers should be reading this book thoroughly. If you are a person that like to be right about what you say, read this book BEFORE you open voice an opinion about impeachment of ANY President in the USA.

The adjectives "excellent" and "thoughtful" probably fall short, but they are the best I can do. Dershowitz is the only person I've heard or seen to write logically, dispassionately, and without (so far as is humanly possible) without destructive passion about the legal tangle in which our country finds itself regarding the presidency of Donald Trump. He is something of a modern Socrates, i.e.., carefully examining the categories in which the argument is being conducted and applying the law, or lack thereof on certain topics, and rules of logic. He probably has offended nearly everyone, but also teaches anyone willing to listen and to think. Bravo, Professor!

I am so very anti-Trump that I would support almost anything to get him out of office. However, this book has opened my eyes about why this is a flawed reaction. Also, Dershowitz has revealed why the ACLU is no longer an organization to support or admire.

Dr Dershowitz thoroughly explains why impeachment cannot prevail against President Trump unless evidence is found of crimes compatible with the requirements of the U.S. Constitution. He presents excellent and valid arguments against those who think they can get rid of President Trump just because they hate him or do not like his manners against his enemies. This is a very readable,, timely, and persuasive book. As a confirmed member of the Democratic party he clearly has no axe to grind in the debate, and his legal credentials are most impressive.

Professor Dershowitz is NOT a conservative, he’s a lifelong liberal constitutional scholar. Here he lays out an historic case of the process of impeachment. Typical anti-Trump rhetoric is empty, Prof. Dershowitz, Harvard law professor walks you historically through why the typical liberal rhetoric is more what we escaped from in England and the Founding Fathers wanted to make it very difficult to remove a president...for a reason.If you want a rational, legally-sound, well documented scholarly case...read this. Don’t tell me what you think until you read what Prof. Dershowitz knows.

At the end of Chapter 1 Mr. Dershowitz introduces the concept of the Rawlsian Veil. Conceptually Rawls argues that one should have no self knowledge when required to make a decision. Hence one can not predict the impact of a particular decision or point of view on oneself. With that in mind I suggest reading with the idea of a President who did certain things rather than President Trump.The essence of the book is in the first chapter. The remainder are edited reprints of other of Professor Dershowitz's writings. In my opinion The first chapter is worth the price of the book.The first chapter does an excellent job of describing the ambiguous and non-ambiguous elements of the process of Presidential Impeachment. (Or as Professor Dershowitz calls them the "living" and "dead" parts of the Constitution.) If we accept his learned opinion there is an amazing amount of ambiguity. But almost all (hedge word almost - I am uncomfortable with making an absolute statement about a topic I hardly know) of the ambiguity is process ambiguity. For example, the Constitution requires the Chief Justice to preside over the "trial" in the Senate without much guidance as to his/her role, responsibility, or powers.I found this, and particularly Chapter 1, to be a great learning experience. Perhaps you will too. I recommend it.
